The transformation of the Port Olímpic will create a unique space in Barcelona. An environment close to the sea where business activity and sports practice in the nautical field will coexist.
The new blue economy pole will be distributed between two large areas of the Port: the Moll de Mestral and the Dic de Recer.
Characteristics of spaces
The blue economy pole of Port Olímpic will be integrated by versatile and functional work spaces. The use of natural light and the constant dialogue of the interior spaces with the port activity have been two basic criteria applied at an architectural level.
In addition, they have different energy saving and efficiency measures that will contribute to one of the main purposes of the Port Olímpic: to become a benchmark in environmental management.
Users will also be able to enjoy the wide spaces for public use that will be set up in the Port, especially in the Moll de Mestral.

Sectors of activity
The Port Olímpic is committed to specializing in four major sectors that have as a common denominator the application of environmental responsibility criteria in their activities.
- Companies that offer products and services linked to the performance of nautical and recreational activities, preferably sustainable and respectful of the marine environment.
- Businesses that develop and offer training activities and marine outreach programs that promote sports and sailing with the aim of raising public awareness of the natural environment of the Port Olímpic and the importance of conserving and maintaining local ecosystems.
- Companies that promote the holding of events, activities and programs related to the activity of the Port Olímpic or the history of the city and its relationship with the sea in order to consolidate the Port Olímpic as a city and cultural space maritime
- Companies that have an offer of products and services related to practice, maintenance, construction, buying and selling and naval design. Priority will be given to businesses that promote the improvement of the sustainability of boats so that they have zero impact on the sea.
- Companies that promote a transformation of current nautical activity through products and services that mitigate the impact on the seas and oceans, and that facilitate the conservation of aquatic ecosystems.
- Companies, entrepreneurial people, start-ups, entities, research and technological centers that apply innovation to create sustainable and intelligent services and products in areas such as port activities, transport and logistics, construction and naval maintenance , fishing, the bioeconomy, blue biotechnology, water treatment, marine renewable energies, the nautical and sports sector, etc.
- Businesses that encourage the creation of collaboration agreements with business, research and innovation (universities, technological institutes, etc.) with the aim of promoting innovation and technology.
- Producers and/or marketers of products and services that promote the conservation and regeneration of the marine ecosystem, both aimed at citizens and the business sector.
- Companies linked to the production and/or sale of products with a large component of recycled material or of marine origin and/or organic products that respect the marine ecosystem and avoid the arrival of waste in the seas and oceans or elimination of them.
- Companies that promote the reduction, recycling and reuse of materials and products, avoiding the generation of waste and its impact on the marine environment.
Management model
Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (B:SM) will select the companies and entrepreneurs present in the blue economy pole through public competition bases.
This procedure will establish the criteria for the allocation of premises, the minimum requirements that interested organizations must meet and the deadlines for submitting offers.
