The Port Olímpic of Barcelona, in keeping with its commitment to the environment and sustainability, has recently acquired a new system of containment barriers. It is a very rare system in the ports of Catalonia and it allows a quick response to a possible case of hydrocarbon spillage. In this way, it is able to surround the polluting products on the surface of the water and prevent their spread to the neighbouring beaches of Somorrostro and Barceloneta. The barriers are located inside a container and unfold in a few minutes through guides placed in the upper part. The Port Olímpic keeps working on the transformation of an innovative port in terms of environmental management and fully aligned with sustainable development objectives. |
