Welcome, new Port Olímpic

New Walks by the Sea

The new Port Olímpic is now a reality. Barcelonians can enjoy more than 20,000 m² of public space reclaimed for the city. The Moll de Mestral, where terraces and nightclubs were located years ago, is now a large square of more than 8,000 m². The new landscaping and a large wooden pergola make it a comfortable new promenade by the sea and a large open space that will centralize civic and cultural programming, with which Port Olímpic aims to be a lively and dynamic space from now on.

One of the pillars of the transformation of Port Olímpic has been the creation of new spaces designed for public enjoyment. Squares, viewpoints, and promenades with seating and green areas redraw the profile of a port that is more permeable and open to the Vila Olímpica neighborhood and the beaches. The new access connecting the Gastronomic Balcony with Nova Icària beach allows citizens to also discover the promenade-viewpoint of Dic de Recer.

Enjoying the Mediterranean from the City

Respirarem el Mediterrani a tocar de la ciutat

The new Port Olímpic puts Barcelonians at the center. This transformation, which is not only physical but also functional, firmly commits to sustainability and integration with the city. Today, Port Olímpic is a renovated and accessible city space, a promoter of sustainable boating accessible to everyone. It becomes a new engine of development and promotion for the blue economy sector and a gastronomic center with quality proposals for all audiences.

Port Olímpic offers new proposals that will accompany youth and women's regattas during the America's Cup and events taking place at the port during La Mercè festivities, aiming to continue providing opportunities for citizens to revisit in the coming months.

Nautical Activities for the citizens

Nautical activities closer to Barcelonians have been promoted with the comprehensive renovation of the Municipal Sailing Center, which has renewed its facilities based on efficiency and sustainability criteria to expand the services and activities it offers. The goal of this new phase is to continue opening up nautical sports to new audiences, especially young people.

Additionally, Port Olímpic has updated its maritime infrastructure, with the Dic de Recer reinforced to protect the facilities against marine storms. The port also aims to focus on holding regattas and marine outreach events, involving the nautical community present at the facilities. To promote sustainable boating, two ultra-fast chargers for electric boats will be installed over the summer.

The Gastronomic Balcony: An Experience for All the Senses

The Gastronomic Balcony is a major novelty of the new Port Olímpic. Located on the Moll de Gregal, this innovative architectural environment connects the Promenade with the sea through a pleasant walkway with squares and viewpoints equipped with stairs and elevators, facilitating visitor circulation.

Starting in late August, the Gastronomic Balcony will begin operating with the gradual opening of the nine restaurants and three gastronomic shops that will be part of this first phase of activity. The new restaurants offer a dining model that emphasizes quality, diversity, and complementary proposals for a wide and diverse audience. The restaurants include names such as Sagardi, El Tribut, El del Mar - Hermanos Torres, El Cangrejo Loco, Superlocal, Nuara and Casa Carmen. The gastronomic shops are Faborit, Dolce Mare, and Les Muns.

Promotion and Revitalization of the Blue Economy

The reopening of Port Olímpic coincides with the launch of strategic projects such as the blue economy business center. This center has up to 50 spaces distributed between the Moll de Mestral and the Dic de Recer, and already hosts about twenty companies that have started their activity or are finalizing their facility setups.

Port Olímpic aims to be the epicenter of blue economy development, attracting companies focused on nautical services and activities, innovation, technology, and circular economy applied to the sea.

A Sustainable Port Olímpic

In its transformation process, Port Olímpic has placed sustainability at the center of all its actions. Among the sustainable projects is the installation of the four photovoltaic pergolas at the Gastronomic Balcony, which will generate the necessary energy to ensure the port's self-consumption and supply other nearby facilities. This will make Port Olímpic a pioneer of one of the first shared consumption and zero-kilometer initiatives in Barcelona.

Additionally, the port will have two ultra-fast chargers for electric boats, operating with green energy produced on-site. This initiative makes it the first port facility in the state with an ultra-fast charging service using green energy.

Other sustainable projects include the use of seawater to cool the air conditioning system of the blue economy facilities at the Moll de Mestral, helping to eliminate the heat island effect. A bioregenerative reef has also been promoted to foster marine biodiversity and improve water quality through the partial naturalization of the concrete blocks protecting the Dic de Recer and the immersion of underwater biotopes.

During the transformation, measures have been applied to achieve maximum energy savings, circularity in material consumption, and improved insulation in the new constructions, reaffirming Port Olímpic's commitment to sustainable management and the care of marine ecosystems.
