The equipment, which is part of the city's electromobility network, Endolla Barcelona, has a power of 150kW and allows the rapid charging of four boats simultaneously
In a second phase, these charging points will be powered by the energy generated by the large photovoltaic pergola of the Olympic Port, a pioneering measure in the state
Since the end of the summer, the Port Olímpic has had two Endolla Barcelona ultra-fast chargers for charging electric boats. These points, located at the Xaloc Pier, have a power of 150kW and allow the simultaneous charging of up to four boats.
With the incorporation of these ultra-fast charging points, the Port Olímpic advances in its commitment to be a benchmark port in environmental management and, hand in hand with Endolla Barcelona, actively contributes to the progress of the nautical sector in its decarbonization process.
The loaders have been designed according to the technical and operational needs of the boats and have, for example, eight-meter hoses that facilitate mooring. In addition, to improve the user experience, these charging points allow payment by bank card, a pioneering measure that is being progressively incorporated into the Endolla Barcelona network as a whole.
In the coming months, this equipment will be powered by the energy generated by the 3,560 m2 photovoltaic pergola located on the roof of the Balcó Gastronòmic, on the Port Olímpic's Moll de Gregal. With this step, the Port Olímpic will become the first port area in the state with an ultra-fast loading service powered by green energy produced and stored in the port itself.
For the first deputy mayor and president of Barcelona Municipal Services (BSM), Laia Bonet, the installation of the charging points “shows Endolla's leadership in promoting a sustainable mobility model in the city and the ambition of the Port Olímpic to become a benchmark in environmental management applied to the sea and an important player in the revitalization of a growing sector, such as the blue economy”.
Promoting sustainable boating
With its transformation, the Port Olímpic has set among its objectives to promote the energy transition in boating and maritime mobility. It is therefore moving towards a nautical sector that is more respectful of the marine environment in terms of both atmospheric and marine pollution, as well as noise pollution.
Apart from the installation of the two charging points, the Port Olímpic is leading other initiatives, such as the Electric Boat Experience, the sustainable boat fair that brought together some thirty companies from the sector at the Moll de Mestral last May and which will have a second edition during 2025.
The Port Olímpic also promotes sustainable boating from the blue economy business center, which already has companies selling electric boats and conversion of diesel boats to zero emissions and others oriented to sustainable nautical services and activities, innovation and technological development of the sector and the circular economy applied to the sea.
The promotion of nautical electromobility is one of the pillars of the Port Olímpic's strategy to become a benchmark in environmental management. Sustainability has been an axis present in all the actions carried out during its transformation, with the aim of creating an advanced port facility, resilient and adapted to the effects of climate change, generator of green energy and committed to the renaturalization of the sea coast and public awareness.
One of the Port Olímpic's most emblematic environmental projects is the large photovoltaic pergola covering the Balcó Gastronòmic, which will generate up to 825,000 kWh per year. The energy generated will feed the ultra-fast chargers and guarantee the port's self-consumption, while supplying other Barcelona Municipal Services (BSM) facilities nearby. The Port Olímpic will thus become one of Barcelona's first shared self-consumption and zero-kilometer initiatives.
The Port Olímpic also contributes to the regeneration of the nearby seabed and promotes biodiversity in the area with projects such as the installation of underwater biotopes and the naturalization of the submerged concrete blocks located in front of the Dic de Recer. These initiatives favor the proliferation of marine species and improve water quality.
Other initiatives carried out to advance in the creation of a sustainable Port Olímpic are the application of high efficiency and low impact systems to cool the air conditioning systems with the use of sea water, the installation of high efficiency LED lighting systems, the improvement of insulation in new constructions and the use of sustainable construction solutions and materials.

Endolla Barcelona, the largest public electromobility network in Spain The promotion of sustainable mobility and the promotion of the use of electric vehicles is one of the main lines of action of the Barcelona City Government and Endolla Barcelona -managed by Barcelona de Servicios Municipales (BSM)-, which develops the necessary infrastructure to promote electric mobility in the city. It is currently the largest public electromobility network in Spain and southern Europe. With the installation of the charging points in the Port Olímpic, the Endolla Barcelona network is promoting electromobility in the nautical sector. The service has exceeded 1,000 charging points distributed throughout Barcelona, following a model of capillary and equitable expansion that anticipates demand to accompany citizens in the transition to electric vehicles as an essential vector for improving air quality in the city. Today, Endolla Barcelona reaches all neighborhoods of the city and provides citizens with a wide and efficient network of charging points, powered by 100% renewable energy. |
